Most masonry chimneys are built with clay tile flue liners. These clay tile lining systems are exposed to extreme heat, cold, and moisture which can result in premature failure. Having an annual inspection can allow us to catch issues before they turn into big problems. Creosote is naturally acidic, stinky, and extremely flammable and when left on the inner surfaces of a chimney can cause a chimney fire and cause the components of the fireplace and chimney to deteriorate much faster than they naturally would.

ANNUAL FIREPLACE INSPECTIONS
The Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) and The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) both recommend an annual chimney inspection and cleaning if needed to keep your chimney and fireplace in good condition and clean prevent fire hazards. Most homeowners are under the assumption that they only need to have an inspection done if they burn a lot of wood but a lot of the components of a chimney system can be affected by settling and the extreme freezing and thawing that we get here in Minnesota. Our 1-2 hour chimney inspections not only check for creosote build up, but we are also verifying that there are no signs of deterioration and problems before they become a safety concern or a costly repair.
